How to Make a Paper Mache Cast of My Face

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Assistant
  • Table
  • Plastic wrap
  • Scissors
  • Newspapers
  • Straw
  • Glue
  • Water
  • Bowl
  • Spoon
  • Chair
  1. 1
Cover the table with newspaper to protect it. Use the scissors to cut the remaining newspaper into small strips that are approximately 2 inches thick and 3 inches long.
  2. 2
Pour the container of glue into the bowl. Fill the empty glue container with warm water and replace the cap or lid of the container. Shake the container for a minute and pour the liquid glue mixture into the bowl. Stir the paste with a spoon.
  3. 3
Wrap the plastic wrap around your head and cut out holes for your nostrils. Cut the straw in half with the scissors. Insert the pieces of straw through the holes in the plastic wrap and into your nostrils.
  4. 4
Sit in the chair. Ask your assistant to dip the strips of newspaper into the paste and stick the strips to the plastic wrap that is covering your entire face, alternating horizontal and vertical placements and going around the straws.
  5. 5
Wait thirty minutes, giving the cast time to harden. Ask your assistant to unwrap the plastic wrap from the back of your head, and slide the cast off of your face gently. Allow the cast to harden completely over the next three hours.
  6. 6
Apply another coat of newspaper strips coated in the paste using the same method detailed above. Allow the cast to dry overnight.
