Campfire

  • By gluing Popsicle sticks around a short glass vase so the vase is completely covered, the centerpiece begins to resemble a campfire. One way to build an actual campfire is to stack sticks in a tepee shape. Fill the vase with bright orange, red and yellow flowers to represent fire. The floral arrangement is visually appealing and it represents a critical scouting skill--building a fire.

  • Birdhouse

  • Have your scout construct a simple birdhouse without a roof, or purchase one and remove the roof. The birdhouse can then be placed in the center of the table and a vase inserted into the house. When the vase is filled with flowers, the house will look like it is overfilling with brightly colored blooms.

  • Pine Cones

  • Have your scout gather a bundle of pine cones. Using glue, glitter and ribbon, if desired, decorate the pine cones and glue them together. The glistening mound of pine cones will make an earthy centerpiece that pays homage to nature, much as scouts are taught to do. The pine cone ensemble can be placed in a glass bowl, or glued to a flat square of wood or cardboard for stability.
